ABOUT NEWSTALGIA FURNITURE:  TUCSON, ARIZONA

The Designers of Newstalgia Furniture are Bernhard and Carson Jansen, a husband and wife team from Arizona

Bernhard had his beginnings in Germany, being born into an artistically rich family. His parents were both in the performing arts. His older brother, Siegried, is an accomplished and well-known sculptor currently residing in Spain.

Bernhard received his training in metal work in Germany and traveled to foreign countries including Africa, South America, and the Middle East where he developed an appreciation for their culture and art. He came to the United States in 1987 and while here he perfected his precision metal artistry under the watchful eye of Joe Burnett, a lifetime professional.

Carson is California born and was educated in Fashion and interior design schools in Los Angeles. Textiles have always been her passion. She fell in love with nostalgic fabric of the 1940's and '50's called Nylon Frise which was used for theatre and train seats in that era. Having a real love for this fabric but not yet the inspiration for it's application, she began collecting it where ever it could be found. She moved to Arizona in 1980 and brought with her an extensive collection of this fabric.

Bernhard and Carson met in Arizona and married in 1988. The marriage is a complete harmonizing of their education, their artistic abilities, and their natural talents. Bernhard brings aesthetic form and precision detail to the fashioned metal, and for Carson, the fabrics are the paints of her canvas.

The essence of this exciting and innovative style adorned with their nostalgic fabric is captured in the name "Newstalgia"

Their work is shown in fine arts shows and galleries, and collected by private and corporate clients.
